Atty. Ziynet Özçelik

Ziynet Özçelik was graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Law in 1989. After completing her legal internship, she started working as a self-employed lawyer in Ankara in 1990. 

For over 30 years, the realization of the right to health, the training of healthcare providers, and their all kinds of academic, professional and personal rights related studies have been in her field of interest. She has continued to advocate in criminal proceedings aimed at limiting democratic rights, especially freedom of expression and freedom of association.

She has published book sections, articles, presentations in the fields of right to health, medical speciality education, rights of health workers, working conditions, occupational health and safety. 

She takes part as a trainer in medical speciality, post-graduate education and certification trainings of healthcare professionals in relation to her fields of work.

Since the preparatory phase of the regulations on the system of compensation of damages arising from medical malpractice in healthcare services and the private insurance model, she has carried out critical studies focusing on the benefit of patients, healthcare professionals and society.

From the beginning of her professional work, Ziynet Özçelik has witnessed the transformation of the healthcare system, the effects of this transformation on healthcare services, on the rights and education of healthcare professionals as a whole, especially physicians, through legal struggle.

She took part in volunteer work in the fields of human rights, environment and urban law in the committees of the Union of Turkish Bar Associations, Ankara Bar Association and Progressive Lawyers Association. She still continues her volunteer work. Due to her works in the field of Occupational Health and Safety, she was given the Istanbul Medical Chamber 2004 Dr. Nejat Yazıcoğlu Occupational Health and Occupational Diseases Scientific Service Award.
